Fire
-valve
--- Teddington
KBB
The
Teddington
KBB
Fire
-valve
, as
supplied
with
an
Aga
cooker
, has
recently
undergone
a
modification
, so
as
to
allow
the
reset
button
to
also
be
used
as
a
manual
shut
-off
valve
.
The
button
has
also
been
reshaped
to
provide
a
finger
grip
, as
shown
below
.
This
means
that
the
fire
-valve
can
easily
be
tested
during
routine
maintenance
to
prove
clean
shut
-off
, whilst
acting
as
a
useful
service
valve
.
However
, since
a
customer
could
operate
the
valve
unwittingly
, we
have
revised
the
users
Operating
Instructions
, so
as
to
give
additional
warning
against
trying
to
re
-light
a
hot
burner
after
resetting
the
fire
-valve
.
Where
a
fire
-valve
is
sited
on
an
external
wall
, in
an
exposed
or
public
area
or
possibly
prone
to
tampering
by
children
, and
thus
able
to
be
turned
off
and
on
, it
may
be
advisable
to
provide
a
weather
proof
cover
for
the
fire
-valve
.
